Immersive Teaching & Learning

Immersive teaching and learning is becoming more and more important, especially due to the increasing importance of online teaching. The research area Immersive Learning deals with the question of how people learn in immersive environments and how these learning processes differ from learning in real or non-immersive virtual environments. Immersive teaching focuses on questions about how immersive media can be used effectively in the classroom. Both research areas combine questions about the design of virtual and mixed learning environments.

Computer Science Unplugged

Computer science education and media education go hand in hand in the "media education unplugged" approach. While the focus of computer science didactics emphasizes the technological perspective of the modes of operation as well as overarching fundamental ideas / concepts of digital media, media education illuminates "learning about media" with a special focus on their use and effect on the individual and society. Media Education Unplugged combines these perspectives on functionality, use and effect in the context of playful activities without the use of digital media.

Computer Science Replugged

The connection of the Computer Science Unplugged approach from the didactics of computer science with the research area Immersive Teaching & Learning enables new forms of visualization of IT concepts. Analogies such as potions, dragons, and treasure islands can make it easier for learners to access basic computer science ideas without putting the mathematical component in the foreground. The use of immersive technology allows hands-on first-hand experience in order to enable situated and experience-based learning in the virtual worlds.
